Junior Ilkley Harriers, established 2003

As part of our Monday and Thursday general summer coaching programme we are able to offer outdoor track and field athletics at Ghyll Royd School. We are able to do Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Javelin, Shot, Discus as well as track running (sprinting) and relays. All these activities are outside whatever the weather, so a waterproof coat and a sence of humour are essential!

We also do more specific indoor Track & Field coaching sessions for those athletes who want to compete. In the winter months - IGS sports hall (sprints and throws) and in the Ghyll Royd School sports hall (high jump and horizontal jumps). In the summer term these sessions move outdoors on the Ghyll Royd playing fields.

Junior Ilkley Harriers do not compete in any national Track & Field Leagues but we do encourage our athletes to compete at local friendly meets. We usually list a number of meets below that we think you'd like to have a go at with the emphasis on the athlete entering themselves for competition. AAA common standard cloth badges and certificates and ESAA Primary and Secondary Awards are presented to juniors at the annual junior presentation evening in March.

Due to the Coronavirus situation 2020 meets are unlikely to happen:

These are from 2019 to give you an idea of the ones we encourage.
